DJ360 6,352
I used to have my cornflakes with hot milk when I was at school. I have Shreddies with cold semi skimmed milk but like to let them soften for a few minutes before eating.

MargieH 7,394
Was it a footballer on an advert a long time ago who said he had 3 Shredded Wheat for breakfast?
Beekay 4,272
No Margie, it were Ian 'Beefy' Botham. When offered a third at breakfast, he replied, "No thank you, two's more than enough for me".
LizzieM 9,231
My Dad had 2 Shredded Wheat every single day of his working life for breakfast. I’ve never been keen on it.
MRS B 279
Lizzie, my dads favourite too was 2 shredded wheat, Shreddies is the latter day version but definitely not as good as the original. Golly, might have to buy one or the other when I go shopping tomorrow now.

Neither have I, it is like chewing soggy string. I quite liked Weetabix and had a workmate who ate them dry with honey and peanut butter on them for morning tea. Puffed Wheat was my favourite as a kid, did not like Sugar Puffs, far too sweet. What was your favourite breakfast cereal
plantfit 7,097
Danny Blanchflower (Spurs footballer) used to say "Pass the hot milk please" when he was advertising Shredded Wheat back in the late 50's early 60's Rog
MargieH 7,394
@MRS B The small shredded wheats you can buy are different from the malted shreddies I like.
letsavagoo 795
My father in law used to say that one of his neighbours who was very bald but had a rather splendid bouffant comb over “he has 3 shredded wheat every day. 2 on his plate and one on his head”.

Cliff Ton 9,951
I haven't had Shredded Wheat for many years, but when I had it in my younger days I could only eat it when it was softened in warm milk; I never wanted it crispy and sharp. Which I suppose was totally defeating the whole point of it.
philmayfield 5,359
I once dreamed I was eating Shredded Wheat and when I woke up I’d eaten the mattress. 2

It’s not yer traditional type, we went for a ‘cassette’ type that sits inside a hole in the wall and it’s just gorgeous to look at and sit beside. Yes they are Lizzie we have one in the bedroom. nonnaB 4,752
Breakfasts , Italy doesn’t really have a great selection of cereals but the better ones are always British. The others I’ve never heard of but I do like porridge Quaker white oats and was surprised to find them. They make fantastic flapjacks too.
katyjay 4,987
I like porridge. I quadruple my ingredients, and divide between 6 Tupperware containers. I add a bit of brown sugar (or golden syrup) a tablespoon of chopped walnuts and tablespoon of raisins. 6 portions are big enough a portion nowadays. Fridge 5 and eat 1 that day. Then zap the others as needed. Only one saucepan to wash this way.
PeverilPeril 3,153
Delightful day today. Nephew visited us with wife and 2 sons. They moved from Australia to a small village just outside of Rome a year or so ago They started a takeaway business and are doing very well. The secret of their success is that he (trained and experienced chef) makes PIES. Pies are an added attraction to the usual pasta based dishes and the clientele love em. Pies don't seem to have been discovered in Italy? One of the youngsters (5) checked out the chicken coupe and was so excited to discover an egg in the nest box. His younger brother chose an egg from the rack in the pantry and they are looking forward the having THEIR dippy egg for breakfast tomorrow. So heart warming. Life is good. 3
