DJ360 6,347
My daughter has now been designing clothes, among other things since she graduated. These days she doesn't often bother to show us what's hers in the shops, but here's something she has in Matalan at the moment. It seems t be selling very well. https://www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2946533_c211/girls-green-schiffley-co-ord-set-4-13yrs-green Some years ago she was on the Matalan design staff, but found it a bit tame. These days she's Freelance.
MargieH 7,394
Col, your daughter’s design looks very pretty and I like the colour, but I fear it would need ironing. However, some people I know actually like doing ironing! You must be very proud of her success
MRS B 278
Margie, I gave up ironing many years ago when I created tramlines in hubbies Army trousers. He does all the ironing now. Can’t say I miss it.
mary1947 1,876
Don't tell the master that i have posted this!! One day master asked me to show him how to iron, so starting on easy things eg Hankies then more advanced. Hankies easy pesy next shirts?? Wel;l he placed the shirt on the ironing board, and it fell off, twice more, each time he placed on the board by the time he had picked up the iron the shirt was on the floor. By thim time the master had given up. OK Whats next on the list.

Jill Sparrow 9,571
I think the word obey is optional now, Trogg, but for centuries it was part of the marriage vows for women only! No way would I ever have promised to obey any man but, then, no way would I ever get married. It must have been said by grandma Kate when she married Ted Sparrow in 1919 but she had no intention of honouring it any more than Ted had any intention of forsaking all others.
philmayfield 5,356
I think the word ‘cherish’ is used now. I continue to obey though. Anything for a quiet life!

Beekay 4,272
I wouldn't say my wife is always right, but even bad cheese and a dodgy curry wouldn't dare disagree with her !

siddha 796
A day started to the accompaniment of creaking joints and whistling tinnitus. A think a musical day lies ahead.
philmayfield 5,356
We had a call at 7.15pm yesterday evening from our daughter whose car wouldn’t start and she was stuck in the Victoria Centre car park on the deserted third floor. She was unable to get a reply from the AA. She was panicking! I grabbed my portable jump starter and we both set off. We arrived half an hour later to meet a rather frightened young lady. The empty floor was very eerie! My starter pack had no effect on what was obviously a very depleted battery. I could get no phone response from the AA either so I contacted them via their app. This produced a reaction and after a wait of over an hour the AA man arrived, found the battery to be extremely low but started the car with his more powerful kit. As the car was approaching five years old I asked for a new battery which fortunately he had on his van. I had to pay £4.20 to get out and £200 for a battery. She then had a 25 mile drive home to her village but was back by 11pm. It was not the relaxing evening I had been anticipating!
MargieH 7,394
What a horrible experience for your daughter, Phil. It must have been unnerving for her being on that deserted floor of the car park. Good thing that mum and dad were able to come to her rescue!
philmayfield 5,356
It was very scary in that car park. Even I felt uneasy as I never venture into Nottingham at night due to the potential of getting mugged. She called us rather than her six foot boyfriend because we lived closer! I did remind her we were both OAP’s!
Beekay 4,272
Glad it all worked out in the end Phil. Before we left Nottingham in 1987, I'd heard rumours of that car park that there were gangs in there who demand a payment for "looking after" your car while you were away. Another ruse was to charge you before you could take your car out of the car park. Don't know how true this was but I would never use it.
philmayfield 5,356
I doubt she will go there again. Why go 25 miles to a hairdresser?
DJ360 6,347
The girls bought us RHS membership for Christmas, so today we had our first look at the new-ish RHS Bridgewater in the posh bit of Salford where the kids live. It's only a half hour run from the Grand Duchy. For those who don't know it's on the site of Worsley New Hall, which was demolished about 1949 and was just over the road from Worsley Old Hall, which wasn't...and still exists..as a pub- restaurant. Anyway, well worth a visit even though most plants only just emerging. Think I'll be going regularly to watch the seasons change.
IAN FINN 571
Glad alls well phil thank goodness the only thing that got mugged was your wallet.
