They open early..........serving good food from 8am (in Nottingham anyway)...great Coffees..........nice staff.....good decore........fair prices.......usually in good buildings ex cinema's and the like.............and a range of Beers to suit everyone (so they tell me)............they must be doing summat right they employ over 30,000 staff............and alot of my old mates go in early morning........therefore ....terrific banter, insults abound, but always leave with a smile on me face,

Not just Bulwell, ive been in their places up and down the country.......and they all have a nice atmosphere.........

Because they don't charge rip-offprices. In a town where there are no Wetherspoons pub prices are anythingup to £4.70p a pint, never mind London & the south £5+ per pint.

Wetherspoons will sell premium beers just over £2 per pint even John Smith's etc at under £2 !  per pint .

As Ben say's all other good reasons too.

Just get rid of the bleddy screaming & unruly kids !

Try The Station Hotel in Hucknall you can get a pint there for under £3

My great grandparents kept that pub about 100 years ago. Apparently they opened up at the crack of dawn every day so the miners could lubricate their throats after the night shift.  When my Great Grandad passed away his wife had to leave the pub as (so I've been told) women were not allowed to be licencees.  She then moved to Long Eaton and had a 'beer-off' ........ wouldn't that be the same as running a pub?  I'm sure someone will be able to answer that.

I'm a big fan of Wetherspoons, but the one thing you'll never get in them is a quiet, private corner.  Wherever you sit, it's a bit of a goldfish bowl.  Not the place to go if you don't want to be noticed.

CT. Not quite true. 'spoons in Sherwood has a nice, quiet cosy corner, slightly gloomy and out of sight for most of others in the place.

True !   In a Spoons pub you just have to look more closely for a quiet corner.  It's the opposite to a village country pub where everything is private corners.

I seem to recall the "out of sight" part of Sherwood was used by NS members a few weeks ago.

I use Wetherspoons in London as it can be relied upon to provide a decent pint for reasonable cost. My wife thinks that I have a built in Wetherspoons radar and could find a Wetherspoons on any planet in the solar system. Comically we were walking through Bath this summer and she wanted a toilet. "Now where is the nearest Wetherspoons now? " she asked with a certain amount of sarcasm in her voice. I just said "Wot that one?" and pointed to the door about 5 metres away.

Wetherspoons are a sea change in pubs. Whist it was not the first chain to sell real ales they tended to specialise in it and more the better!

I like Weatherspoons because they take derelict places and turn them into viable pubs. Another thing is that they take security very seriously indeed and whilst I can accept screaming kids during the day, there is very little bother in the pubs or outside of them.

Reading an article in the rag today about the lack of support among the young for the Conservatives and how they could increase it, the author said they should follow in the foot steps of Spoons founder.

Apparently when he started his market research was not conducted by asking pub goers what they would want but by asking people who did not go to the pub what would attract them.

Hence never a mean pint, always clean toilet, the kitchen does not close at 2-00pm and of course pleasant staff.

Not been in a spoons for years so you regulars will have to confirm.......

Wetherspoons in Hexham, Northumberland is a beautiful art deco cinema.   Sometimes wish spoons had a separate part for families, be nice to have lunch without unruly children running riot.
