new to this site, born on Denison street, after travelling all over the world or some of it returned and now in Bulwell. I am nearly 80 and can remember prisoners of war being on Wollaton park

they had huts at the bottom of the park, and walked around in boiler suits with a big white circle on the back, as kids we said it was a target to shoot them if they tried to escape,but looking back that would hardly be the case as they were allowed to do just about anything they wanted to and were invited into peoples homes for meals and drinks,which worked well for me in later life in Germany, those who had been P.O.Ws were really kind and helpful to us squaddies
