Notts_Landing 6
Anyone know any history of the Newstead Abbey Pub in Bulwell?
catfan 14,793
I know my mates in laws, Ernie & Ann ran the Abbey in the '70 - 90s. These bungalows were built on the Abbey car park ! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.0048011,-1.1888889,3a,75y,258.18h,68.22t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1srNadLwWPoV9fpyYaxkS_uw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en
NewBasfordlad 3,599
Ian your darn right it was OK. Just above the Abbey was a pair of semi's owned by Mrs Hancock (spelling) I lived in the one nearest the pub 64/68 above them was a line of garages she also owned where the bungalows are now dad had one of those too. We were friends of Mrs H and her husband Bert back in New Basford, she knew they were going to get knocked down and it was arranged so that mum & dad would get a council house worked out well too. I never got to the bottom of it but they had a small shop on Liddington street just above Suez street. This was meant to have paid for Bert's nice new car, that pair of semi's and garages plus other property and the family home on Lucknow Avenue Mapperley park. If that isn't fishy I don't know what is....
