One of my favourite poems, written by that little known Nottinghamshire youth, George Gordon Byron, is The Vision of Judgement. It deals with the arrival at the pearly gates of King George III who, as

I looked at the chulla Member offline tag today with great concern. Unfortunately my fears were confirmed. I did not know until today. Never knew his real name. The shock of learning about his death t

We thought the service for Chulla was quite fitting - and it was good to hear more about his life from his friend David.  You spoke well, too, Katyjay.  It was good to see so many Nottstalgians there

I definitely think almost all of us have Lizzie.

I liked his poems and short stories.  He allowed me to use one story about farmyard friends to read to our toddler group at church.  He said he thought they might like it......   a very thoughtful man.

AND THERE WAS UPROAR IN HEAVEN!   A recent snippet from the Celestial Gazette

His Grace, The Dalai Chulla,
Nottstalgia's erstwhile Bard,
Has been in Heaven some time now
And studying very hard.
He's passed examinations and
The Master of all Fates
Has given him promotion:
He's Chief Bouncer on the Gates.

The Meet and Greet was easy:
"Ay Up, Miduck! How Do?"
The uniform is natty:
Flowing robes of saffron hue.
The Elf and Safety's simple:
Don't trip over your attire...
Now he's got a flash sustificate!
St Peter can retire.

Since His Grace was into aircraft
When he trod these mortal paths,
Those who gained a pilot's licence
Go straight in, no questions asked. :jumping:
If your name, perchance, be Sparrow
And with feathered wings were born,
There's a massive neon sign which states,
"Clear off! You have been warned!" noblue

The robed one has been busy
Making changes up on High.
And most members of Nottstalgia
Need not fear for when they die.
For Chulla will be waiting
With a Chullaspoons' free pass,
An eternity of scanties
And an overflowing glass.

For the technically-minded,
Or the DIY-embarrassed,
The Celestial Plumbers' Merchant
Is our old friend, Colin Harris.
If your joie de vivre is leaking
Or your fizz went down the pan
And you need some funny stories...
Then NBL's your man! :tease:

There are dances every Friday.
You can glide across the floor
With a host of glamorous film stars
Or, if you've got the nerve, Big Maude!
Ben could choose between Clarissa,
Pam, Liz, Kath, Val, Sue and Mavis
But the star turn is the tango:
With our Chull and Bette Davis! :yowza:

Yes, he's settled well has Chulla,
Despite his mode of dress.
And his old Nottstalgia colleagues
Can expect the very best
And when their time's up,  be rewarded
For a life lived long and well.

So, it's a good thing I like blazing fires.
I'm heading straight for Hell!  :P
