Frank Johnson 24
In the late 50's/early 60's there were some small terraced houses towards the end of Hucknall Rd. where it meets Mansfield Rd.. What were they used for?

katyjay 5,085
In the history of Carrington, it says there were densely built terrace housing along Hucknall Rd, built for the working class, and demolished in the 60's. I'm guessing lace workers lived there.
jonab 1,644
When I lived near there (1970's) there was waste ground just above Hair By Him and Sheila Noke's DIY shop - now Granger & Oaks (Westminster Bank on the corner Hucknall Road/Mansfield Road - now, apparently an Indian Restaurant). The houses that were there, I was told by an old local in the Grosvenor were, indeed, as katyjay says lace workers and knitters houses.
Frank Johnson 24
Well done, Katijay and Jonab. They were indeed Lace Makers houses. I think they were demolished to make way for the modern, child centred, open plan Claremont Infants/Juniors school in the 60s
jonab 1,644
I didn't realise this was a quiz. Do we get a prize?
