Victoria Works, St Anns

Recommended Posts

Hello there fellow Nottinghamites!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me some history of a building on the Wells Road named the Victoria Works? My granny remembers the building but can't recall what is was used for etc or the history, so thought I would post here to see if you lot knew owt?

Thanks!!

Early 1920s it was Hodson's Confectionery factory .

1930s United Drug Co

1940s it was Beardalls paint and varnish manufacturers , couldnt say what it was after that .

Welcome Notts-Landing hope to read your post as I'm a St Ann's girl and lived there from being born, never  knew about the victory works. Just show how Nottstalgia is educational to us all.

Sorry ......correction ! Ignore the bit about United Drug Co being there , I read it wrong !

However did find this advert from January 1937 for Beardalls .

Could this have been Roberts Windsor Victoria Works Colwick? ( a cosmetics firm I used to visit in school hols with my Dad in the 1960's) We also had a call at Colwick loco sheds - around 1964!
