Regardless of when it was in the picture has it ever been any different?

 

If it's circa early 50's food rationing is still in effect for some foods and was a time when the lack of processed foods made Britain's population surprisingly healthy thus the slim figure.

 

I don't look at him and think 'poor sod' I see a man on piece work who wants them all to bugger off so he can gerron wi it.

Regarding bosses and workers my father told me of when he was working on the shop floor in the 30's the company chairman would visit the factory on a Saturday morning dressed in his hunting pink, ready to ride to hounds. That must have been pretty demoralising for the workforce. My father ultimately became company chairman in the 70's but he didn't keep up the tradition!

Kinnock once visited Plessey years ago. All the department staff were gawping, whilst I turned my back. I couldn't bring myself to make eye contact.
