Jumping Jack Flash seen here at Redlands with dog Mandrax...well Keith's gardener pictured here was the inspiration behind this 1968 gem.Redlands and the  scalp of land is very pleasant..

Alexis was good to the Stones and like Georgio Gomelsky..guided them early on...

Brian( elmo)...was desperate to learn and  perfect the harp...and did so-sitting on Alexis's stairs all night until his lips bled. John handed 'I Wanna Be Your Man' to Mick & Keith in his kitchen. And what a voice he had himself..even on a Hot Chocolate single. Blues Incorporated and Blues by Five featuring Charlie Wembley Watts and with Cyril Davis..those barrelhouse and Bricklayers Arms gigs set the mould..not only in music but popular culture as a whole...Dustin' my Broom...Crawdaddy style.

Gimmie Shelter as it was called..written by Keef in a Mount Street flat..scowling at the fact that Mick and Anita were going a little 'too method' in the lovemaking scenes on the film set of Performance.

This song was about bad press..from Between The Buttons - one of 3 albums released in 1967.

Under My Thumb was the swipe at Chrissie Shrimpton..Jeans Sister.

Mick ended up with Marianne.

Exile reminds me of good times at the Fallons house on Stratford Rd.WB

1972..all day long..the only album and song...as far i'm aware of that mentions Dixie Dean.

Been drinking BoilerMakers ..so rolling back the years...Stones had great wingmen back in those days..most on these 70's classics..blokes like Jim Price, Ian Stewart, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston..On this spanker ..through a Leslie you can hear Dr.John- Clydie King...recorded in the cellars of Nelcòte Villa in France..the Lads had fled the huge tax bills and hopped it to France..in this mansion ..in blistering heat they cut Exile on Main St.

Using the natural acousitics of the huge wine cellars and high ceilings...recorded via their BMC mobile unit truck..which features in Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple...Jimmy Miller twiddled the knobs spot on.They lived and breathed this session..sleeping 'above the factory' as it were...then cut and mixed in LA.

Enjoy Dr.John and Nicky Hopkins providing the bed for this belter.

Plagued with the heat and acoustic hurdles it's a testament to the Stones that crew and Mobile Unit managed to capture these remarkable songs from 1971/2recordingstones.jpg.. A Then and Now of the basement that Jim Horn and Bobby Keys stood in..to get that 'sound'

Did a stint for the boys and the Fan Club..what a chaotic blast..best times!

In particular the opening night of The Sticky Fingers...this recalls Sussex, Stomach Ache and Shepherds Pie.
