The Real Robin Hood

Recommended Posts

I've watched it this morning and thought it was quite good.  Nothing much new in it but I'm sure lots of people who don't know much about Robin Hood country will find it interesting.

Many Pubs around the area  I was brought up in associated with Robin Hood and his Merry Men

Robin Hood Hotel Rainworth, sadly now a Tesco Express

Little John Inn Ravenshead (Fishpool), still a pub

The Jolly Friar Blidworth, Demolished now housing

The Archer Rainworth, still a pub

Forest Folk Hotel Blidworth, Demolished now a Tesco Express

The Sherwood Rainworth, still a pub

The Sherwood Ranger Ravenshead, still a pub

The Robin Hood Edwinstowe, still a pub

The Bold Forester Mansfield, still a pub

Probably many others that I have forgotten

Strangely enough in and around Adelaide we have two pubs called The Robin Hood. One in Norwood in the city suburbs since 1851 and one in a historic country town called Strathalbyn. As far as I knew Robin never ventured downunder so the were probably named by someone from Notts who was homesick

Watched it this evening, but it told us nothing new. Not as comprehensive a dig as those undertaken by the gang in Dr Alice Roberts series of programmes entitled Digging for Britain. Brilliant in depth investigations.
