Oztalgian 3,217
John Haynes the creator of Haynes Publishing Owners Workshop Manuals has died aged 80. Which bloke on here with any mechanical aptitude hasn't used one of these to service or repair their pride and joy from the 60's, 70's and 80's? Thanks to John and these manuals I saved many pounds and often lots of time. 1
Waddo 921
Still got loads of them in a filing cabinet in the garage, maybe one day they might become a collectors piece, probably not in my lifetime though!!

I stopped him by asking at the start of one project "What are we going to do wrong on this one?"

Waddo 921
Surely you don't need a manual for one of those, just a pair of stilsons and a hammer. Oh and a bit of faith!!
philmayfield 6,089
We had a lad at the factory who thought they were called ‘Stiltons’. He used to go into the workshop and ask to borrow a ‘pair of Stiltons’. The engineer got cheesed of with him!
loppylugs 8,424
Should have bought a pair of Stilton cheeses for the next time he came in. Always remember as an apprentice the journeyman told be to go and get the footprints. Took me a bit to realize there really was such a tool. It said it right on 'em. I thought he was just extracting the urine as we used to say.
