loppylugs 8,287
There are few countries today that could be considered 'white only' Especially when countries allow unlimited access to so called refugees. To this point I have found the three countries I have lived in to be welcoming to all. Georgia, my current home in the deep south has always been accused of racism due to the history of slavery in the past. Maybe I've been fortunate but the black folks I've met have been decent, open people. The last one was a big black male nurse in the local hospital who came in to shave me, and I don't mean my face!. Great guy, we had a few laughs and he brightened my day. I wouldn't have wanted to argue with him anyway. There are some rotten characters in all races, and racism is not just a white thing. It is natural of any race to tend to congregate together. As someone once said, We need to hang together or we'll all hang seperately.
benjamin1945 15,033
Well said Loppy........this last few months ive been hooked on some American u tube like shows..........'high desert' ,USA Constitution lovers,,and others i can't recall the titles....Much of it is about people with video cameras testing out the Police,,security guards and the like....Must admit it has put me off the USA quite a lot,,,mainly because of the really awful job the Police seem to do.Racism is seemingly rife. It covers all parts of the country,,and i couldnt believe the offensive attitude of many Cops......Grew up loving America ,,Films,,TV shows,,actors,,Pop stars ,,infact more or less everything about the place,,,its certainly dented my opinion,,,
loppylugs 8,287
Don't believe all you see on there, Ben. There are those who hate the USA and all it stands for. Not least the liberal media. Back in 73 I was working in Canada with a guy from Belfast. I happened to say he must be glad to be out of there because of all the fighting and hatred. He said he rarely saw any. The tv crews just rush to wherever there is trouble and then blow it up like every street in the country is like that. There are some 'no go areas' in most cities but most is ok. Edited to add. Remember they are not going to show guys like our local Sheriff who is extremely pleasant and polite the odd times I've met him.
katyjay 4,811
The first time I went through Northern Ireland, I couldn't get over how beautiful it was. Previous to that, my only idea of N.I was terraced streets, soldiers having stones thrown at them by mainly children, and bombs going off, never a view of the lovely cities; rolling hills, etc. The media show you what THEY want you to see. Good news is not good news to them.

Beekay 3,772
I had a look on some of those clips Ben, If I'd been one of those p.o. employees, I would have give that cameraman a smack in the mouth with his constitution.
