Buses in Mexico...

Recommended Posts

First time I went to Malta in 1991 all the buses were 1950's/60's vintage, some old bonneted Bedfords, they sounded like they had petrol engine's to me. Most of the cars were 50's/60's as well. We rented a car (an old escort) for £2 a day,  only one headlight worked & no left wiper (& it rained) but it got us there, there was no MOT back then & most cars were old banger's. When I went again in 1997 they'd introduced MOT's & all the old banger's had gone & the buses were newer second hand British models, some still had Brit number plates on them. Think they have modern buses now...

Nottstalgians are normal people taking an interest in what other Nottstalgians are doing. They wish each other happy birthday and enquirer after families . It's called friendship.

I'm from Nottingham.  Dave is from Nottingham. I live in England.. He lives in the US..  You don't have to read this.  Your point?

It's in the "OWT about Nowt"  and the topic is "Buses in Mexico" nobody said it was anything to do with Nottingham, they are very interesting posts from an owd Notts lad, answered by owd and not so owd

A Reggae bus in Barbados

And a Jinty bus in The Bahamas

These little buses are great fun to ride on, very cheap too, less than 1 USD per journey.  The driver has reggae music blaring, the passengers bop around and cling on for dear life as they take the corners at speed and stop without warning plus every bus is very crowded, I ended up on an unsuspecting man’s knee on one trip, not through choice you understand ...... I was thrown onto him

Never been but, I was once told that most of the buses on Malta were ex London transport. Is that true or was somebody pulling my gearlever.

Beekay, in the late 70s a number of ex London Transport AEC Swifts were exported to Malta to replace some of the life expired bonneted vehicles.

Great memory HSR..this was a 1.40 purchase from Goldsmith Street..Groundhogs-Thank-Christ-For-The-Bomb-FroThe gatefold version as well!

I also have the Sunset release...which is often more valuable.

Doughnut in Grannies Greenhouse is another matter...if you are interested?

Going of at a tangent.seen T.S. loads of times. My only connection with Nott's is my Grandparents & previous generations. I have the gatefold tcftb also.

Saw the Hogs many times at the Horse, and the Mardi Gras gigs too. Sadly, TS isn't touring nowadays due to his health problems.

A great guitarist.
