Wow.   Looking at that chart, I must have got £1 each for my 2nd and 3rd children in the late 60s.  I remember that it certainly helped with feeding and clothing our  3 little ones.

According to that chart, when I had my 3rd child in 1979, I was getting £12 a week for the 3. I can't remember getting that much, that was quite a bit in those days. Does anyone remember getting a Maternity Allowance? I finished work January 1972 to have my first baby. For about 6 weeks before he was due, I got some money each week to buy baby items.

I knew of the maternity allowance but can't remember much about it. What I do remember very clearly was the maternity box of goodies that that mam had with each of my siblings
