Try bending a cane over a pot of potting compost and pinning it in the compost, like cultivated roses and blackberry canes, they will root after a short time.

There’s info on Google swe62 and it looks easy to do.

‘ To propagate a dog rose, collect cuttings 8 inches long from the tips of the sprigs that have grown during the year. Bury the lower part in a blend of 2/3 light garden soil and 1/3 sand, and set it on the side of the house facing away from the equator’.

Probably the most difficult bit is working out in which direction the equator is

Think about it, providing you are vertical you will always be facing the equator no matter which way you face, only the distance will vary... ;)

Edit:

Just thought, if you are parallel to it you won't be...

We have wild rose problems around here, roses are propagated by two methods, tip propagation, where the cane touches the ground and "strikes", and birds eating the ripe rosehips and spreading them via their crap.

Floribunda were brought into the area for cheap effective fences around cow fields. but left alone they just take over fields.
