mick2me 3,033
Why don't we just change the clock by 30 minutes (Fall)back or (Spring)forward and leave it at that?
FLY2 10,108
Why on earth do it at all. It's a complete waste of time. There's only 24 hours in a day FFS. Leave things alone !!!!!

Cliff Ton 10,435
I don't care about the morning effect; what I hate is when it gets dark at 3.30 in the afternoon.
OrphanAnnie 296
Do night workers get an extra hour's pay if they work past two o'clock? And which clock did you miss - there's always one even when you think you have it all covered?
Ayupmeducks 1,730
I used to get paid an hours overtime if my shift fell on the added hour, and a full eight hours on the 7 hour shift. We don't get such short days as the UK does in mid winter, my latitude is around the same as the north Africa coast line. Sunrise today is at 7-21am and sunset is 6-16pm. Compo 10,326
I re-set the outside wall clock yesterday afternoon, refastened it to the wall, put the ladders away and looked at the clock to check the time - I had put the fizzing thing forward instead of back! I must be getting old....
katyjay 5,085
Just to complicate the fact that Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving, the Navajo nation which expands into New Mexico and Utah, does change their clocks. BUT the Hopi nation within the Navajo nation, doesn't. Ayupmeducks, I think the other state that doesn't change time, is Indiana.
Ayupmeducks 1,730
Seems Hawaii doesn't either, Kath.

NewBasfordlad 3,599
If it weren't for Jockistan I thing the UK would be on permanent GMT+1 they always moan about the extra danger to the kids going to school. However when the experiment was run much was made of the fact there were more accidents in the morning but nothing mentioned about the drop in evening accidents which was far greater than the morning rise. I have some gardening friends up in the north of Scotland and they always moan about their shorter spring days but fail to mention their longer, much longer summer days. colly0410 1,181
# 32 Compo. That's the sort of thing I'd do. I'm bound to discover a clock or timer I've forgotten to change.
catfan 14,793
All our clocks here are similar to these. http://www.staples.co.uk/radio-controlled-wall-clock-white/cbs/389730.html?price=incvat&cm_mmc=SEM_PLA-_-google-_-serp-pla&mcode=SEM_PLA-google-serp-pla&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-7GxBRCL_Kq6mZSHvdsBEiQA7r8VhGVPkrvb_q6OUE4ZrG4JuEWjyVM_xemW1wEXlCoY_RwaAiT-8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds They sort the time out themselves ! MargieH 7,594
#30. Orphan Annie. When I was nursing and on nights, we didn't get any extra money for working an extra hour. I did suggest to the day staff that they could take over half an hour earlier than usual, but they declined!

radfordred 6,284
Yeah don't forget to put your clock back one hour tonight before you pop off to bed or this time tomorrow it will be midnight or four in the afternoon or sumit?
loppylugs 8,424
We did that a couple of weeks ago. Stupid pointless ritual. Serves no useful purpose that I can see. There are still only the same number of hours of daylight in the day.
DJ360 6,712
I think the Daily Mash had it best: 'Don't forget.. clocks go back.. or forward.. one hour, tonight.. or next week or something..' Anyway folks. Welcome to the Great British Summer... Have a good one! Col

Cliff Ton 10,435
If anyone really did follow the advice of the title of this thread and put their clocks BACK one hour last night, they will now be two hours behind the rest of us. So for their benefit, it's now 10.30am, not 8.30 as you think.
