I don't know gavreid, in fact I've never heard of him. The figures quoted are a simple repeat of  Gov figures, and I'm at a loss to see his point.

It's no mystery Jim. Mostly he's just a PFM member with good taste. (He uses the same model of phono cartridge as me.

Earlier in the more dramatic phases of the pandemic he was providing not only statistics, but more analysis than we were getting from for e.g., The Beeb.  He's probably getting fed up now, but he is still providing daily figures, which the BBC et.al. are not..so it's just a useful bit of info which I decided to put up here, for those who are interested.  Saves hunting down the figures.

Maybe also as a little reminder to the disinterested/cynical ..that this is not yet over.

Can agree with that Ben., just picked my prescription from pharmacy and my injection are of the right dose. So now I can do one 4.5mg injection rather than three 1.5mg shots that I've had to do for the last 3 months. Fortunately only once a week. B.

You're braver than me, Beekay. Hope I never develop anything that requires injections. No can do. Hope I never develop cataracts because it'll have to be a guide dog and the moggies won't like it!

Good news this morning. Last Thursday's mammogram is all clear! Phew!

A friend of mine has just signed up to participate in the Galleri trial. It involves blood tests. Participating patients by invitation only via their GP surgery. Mine isn't taking part.....yippee!!!!!  That's me off the hook!

I'm perfectly ok with injections provided a nurse/doctor does it - although I always look the other way.

I've never had to DIY. I suppose if it's a choice of that or not being here, there's not really much choice.

Pleased your mammogram results are clear, Jill.

However, having had one cataract operation 20 odd years ago,  I can assure you there was no pain involved!

Also, my intra-vitreal injections each month are also painless.
I think when it comes to losing one’s sight, most people will try anything to correct this or at least prevent their eyesight getting any worse.

A guide dog is a wonderful help for someone who Is severely visually impaired but surely nothing is quite like having one’s own sight…..

(I realise you are writing partly in jest but I just needed to say this :) )

I had to self inject in the lower abdomen area after a hip operation. It was not a problem at all. The biggest difficulty was getting rid of the used syringes. The local surgery wouldn't take them and referred me to the local authority for disposal. I burnt them in the garden brazier in the end.

As a follow on to your post Phil., my self injection pens are placed in a Sharps bucket with a locking lid. This is provided by our local council and they collect it when full and leave an empty replacement. I just go online and request a collection. I then get a phone call to confirm. Collections here are on Wednesdays. B.

I am needle phobic. I always have been. I've drawn the short straw this month because, the results of my yearly thyroid screen showed that my TSH is too low, making me borderline hyperthroid. The rest of the results are fine but it means my medication has been reduced and I need another test in 8 weeks. Not looking forward to that.

My mother had cataracts removed from both eyes at the QMC then developed secondary cataracts on both eyes, necessitating laser treatment which made her sight much worse. I couldn't have gone through all that. I'm too much of a coward.  I fear losing my hearing far more than my sight. Fortunately for me, they're both brilliant.

Talking of cataracts, I have to take 'er indoors to have her first op next Saturday, then if all goes well, she'll have the other eye done in a couple of weeks or so. B.

I had to self-inject for 28 days after my two major surgeries the other year and took my full yellow bucket back to QMC because I knew from past experience, when my husband had the same issue following a knee replacement, that you are meant to return to the place of surgery.  The GP surgeries are charged for the disposal of needles.

I inject weekly and have done for many years now. I use the spring loaded pens. Not keen on doing it. Sometimes there is no pain at all, other times it’s quite a sting. Just luck whether you hit a nerve or not. Used pens put placed in a yellow sharps bin which is collected when full.

Mine isn’t for insulin either. It’s an immune system suppressant for severe arthritis. This is an interesting Covid related story I’ve just found.

Jose Maria Fernandez Sousa-Faro, president of European pharmaceuticals giant PharmaMar, has been charged by police with being falsely vaccinated against Covid-19. Dr. Sousa-Faro has been caught up in a scandal in Europe involving people being added to the National Immunization Registry in exchange for large sums of money, with many of them familiar faces and household names.

Police allege that Sousa-Faro arranged to be injected with a saline solution instead of a Covid-19 vaccination and paid thousands of dollars to have his name added to Spain's immunization register, as confirmed by police sources and reported by El Periodico de Espana.

Dr. Sousa-Faro is among more than 2,200 celebrities and European elites on the list drawn up by National Police of those falsely vaccinated against Covid.

According to El Mundo, Spanish police carried out the investigation called Operation Jenner which uncovered the vast network of celebrities and elites who have paid money to have their names fraudulently entered on the National Immunization Register, despite refusing to be vaccinated.

EuroWeekly News report: The leader of the network was a nursing assistant at the La Paz University Hospital, where he is accused of charging more than €200,000 euros for fraudulently registering 2,200 people as vaccinated in the National Registry against Covid-19. He has been arrested and is currently in custody.

Among those accused are Bruno González Cabrera, a defender who played for Betis, Getafe, Levante and Valladolid. Fabio Díez Steinaker in beach volleyball, runner-up in Europe and fifth in the Sydney Olympic Games. The former Valencian boxer and wrestler José Luis Zapater, alias Titín, who starred in more than a thousand fights.

The famous people investigated so far includes:

José María Fernández Sousa-Faro, President of PharmaMar, Trinitario Casanova, one of the richest men in Spain, Kidd Keo, trap singer in English and Spanish, Anier, rap singer, Jarfaiter, rap singer, Veronica Echegui, actress, Bruno Gonzalez Cabrera, soccer player, Fabio Díez Steinaker, former beach volleyball Olympian, José Luis Zapater, alias Titín, former boxer, Camilo Esquivel, recognized and prestigious doctor.

According to the police who are investigating the 2,200 false Covid-19 vaccination certificates, the fee was dependent on your social standing. The more important you were, the higher the price.
