I have to ‘see’ a specialist at the hospital every 6 months. The last few appointments have been telephone consultations. I got a letter the other day to say they have got to change my next telephone appointment to.....same day, 15 minutes later. I doubt I’d have noticed. The could have saved a stamp.

We order our repeat prescriptions using systmonline and they are ready for collection at our local pharmacy after 72 hours.  The pharmacy offers a free delivery service but we haven't taken them up on that yet - perhaps when we are no longer able to collect them ourselves, we will!

To get an appointment with a GP we use 'Askmygp' where you can request either a named GP or any doctor available.  All we have to do. Is type in the problem.  The doctor responds via text, email or usually a phone call for a remote consult.   If a face to face is deemed necessary, an appointment is made there and then.   All very efficient!

I'm beginning to think we will never see the back of it. Things started to look promising then along came the Indian variant and now not to be out done Yorkshire has come up the a 'triple variant'... I'm fed up now!

'Triple mutant' Covid variant identified in the UK with 'strange gene combination' (msn.com)

PS -  I've just some idiots 'proving' that the Covid vaccination is actually a government scheme to inject us with a chip. They can prove this by holding a magnet to their arm and it is held there...

Up here on NW News they have been canvassing expert opinion.

Last night they interviewed an idiot who pulled up on an off road motorbike..on public roads..with no crash helmet.

This 'expert' was concerned about what was in the vaccine and 'had friends who'd had it and developed Covid Side Effects...'..

Let's be careful out there!!

The area I live in has now lost its “virus supressed status” as we now have 5 confirmed cases, not sure if they are the Indian variant or not. Hopefully this little outbreak will be contained and not spread.

It has kicked off in Melbourne Victoria again with 30 cases that had their origin in a medi-hotel in Adelaide. Some food was delivered to a room with a covid positive guest in it. Shortly afterwards food was delivered to a room close by to a a covid negative person and apparently they caught it from aerosol droplets from the other room. As they were covid negative they left quarantine and flew to Melbourne. Two days later they developed symptoms and tested positive. Melbourne now has 30 cases and has entered a 7 day lockdown. The plonkers that hadn't thought about being vaccinated before are now complaining about the queues at the testing and vaccination centres and that the government is not doing enough about it.

Serve them right OZ. People have yet to realise the importance of vaccination. Not getting into politics or argument but the other day one post was about compulsory voting. To me its more important to be compulsory vaccinated.  'Scuse me but if they catch their foot on a rusty nail would they refuse an anti tetanus jab?

I have cousins in Melbourne and they have both just retired so are looking forward to going around a bit more. My cousin has been very ill and has been making a wonderful recovery ( he was near death) so hope he and she don't go near anyone positive.

What with the Cummings farrago and the rising numbers of infections the government is really under the cosh.

Holiday companies and others appear to put profits first by claiming restrictions are too strict and going on too long, others claiming not enough is being done.

The latest jibe is 'lockdown by stealth' in areas most affected by the Indian variant and with a strong dose of "why us not them" attitude".  Looking at a map I can see why they are reluctant to initiate local measures.

Locking down a town or city was mooted when the IV arrived and there were 31 affected areas, there are now 181 and cases still rising, still we're waiting for a firm decision.

Like it or not there is a third wave building, it's not done with us yet!

First time for a while, been to a pub for a meal with a friend.

Masks to get in, but then don't need them once you're inside - or sitting outside. Everybody else in the place was sensible and reasonable. Not too busy, but just like the old days. Quite nostalgic; a reminder of how things used to be.

Hopefully, that's how it will continue.

On a rare jaunt out we passed a large pub car park on a main road that is taken over by a moblie testing unit. They tell me (time 2:30) they've had six people take a test. Is it that people can't be bothered or scared to learn the results?
