I often give likes for no other reason than to let a member know that I saw their post and do not disgree with it.  If I did disagree I would post a polite response with my reasons for disagreement.  I'm not here to raise my blood pressure.  It's high enough already.

Jim, whilst I appreciated the obvious irony in the bulk of your post, this last bit seems to me to be hinting that all of the loonies and conspiracy theorists are Socialists.  Most conspiracy theorists don't have a clue and just seem to fear ALL government.

Hi. BK  Yeh, bp high.  I am planning on cataract surgery and the eye doctor gave me a form for my gp to sign saying I was fit for the procedure.  My gp found the bp to be high.  I was already on a bp med but it does not seem to be working as well as well as it was.  Gave me a different kind last week but it's no better.  Have to call him tomorrow.  It wasn't Ramipril.  I think fear of side effects drives my bp up.  Did Ramipril help you?

Watcha Loppy, yes, Ramipril is doing me some good. I'm still on it and have been for quite a while. My cardiac nurse is delighted with my bp. I bought myself a bp monitor so I can keep an eye on it and give the nurse some results when she rings, (Covid you know). I down loaded a bp chart so I've got an idea and my resting bp is in the normal range. My missus, her bp shoots up when she sees the machine, but our gp says it 'White Coat syndrome.

That was one of the things about this new gp I've got.  When I mentioned White coat syndrome he immediately jumped down my throat.  "No such thing!!"  Well, I had some news for him.  Plenty of docs believe in it.  First thing they do is take your bp.  It can be fine at home, but way up when you get there.  You need average readings over several days.

There is absolutely no way your bp will be the same as at rest, when lying on your bed. Then you walk/drive to the surgery, with all that entails, followed by the nerves rush whilst waiting with anticipation in the waiting room.

Thats why sometimes the nurse/gp says, sit down we'll try again in 5 minutes.

Hi Loppy,

I have had cataract surgery on both eyes in the last two months. Absolutely brilliant, you don't know how bad your eyes are until someone fixes them as the deterioration is so slow you don't notice it.

The operations were no problem, twighlight anaesthesia only after affect was like having sand in your eyes the evening of the operation but it was gone in the morning. Hope the BP can be controlled and that you can go ahead and have the operation. Then like me you will be able to see a pimple on a gnats bum at 50 paces.

It was a choice and there are elements of several different theories. The Russians had first dibs but said they were too busy at the moment arranging Americas next president. The Illuminati said they'd give it go if the weather picks up and they get permission from their mam.  David Icke said he'd do it but wants too much in expenses. It only leaves the Chinese..

Right, this is about Covid AND Politics so I'll try it here first and see where it goes.

 

I've just watched a BBC2 Prog called 'Totally Under Control.' ..which details the progress of Covid in the US and the Trump Administration's response to it.

To say it was truly appalling and more than a bit scary isn't even the half of it.

I urge everyone who hasn't seen it.. to watch it on the iPlayer.

I knew long before his election that Trump was a dangerous lunatic, Climate Change Denier, Science Denier etc. 

I knew he had constantly sought to deny both the prevalence of and the threat from the virus.

I knew that he had largely sidelined existing Federal Agencies and Scientists in favour of sycophants and nut jobs. Many appointed because their sycophancy and religious views outweighed their scientific or technical qualifications.

 

BUT, I did not know that he had actually FORCED US PPE Manufacturers to export their product to China, from where it was reimported by a few favoured Private Sector Organisations, before being sold to State Health Organisations at inflated prices.

 

That he blamed his predecessor for the shortage of various stuff .. and personnel.. which his own administration had disposed of since he came to office.

 

I did not know that he had actually installed an Whitehouse official in the public 'Centre For Disease Control', to 'approve and re-write' anything which contradicted his own idiot view of the situation.

 

The list goes on and on and on.

 

What America has been experiencing since Trump took power is borderline Fascism and I don't use the word lightly..
