letsavagoo 620
Sad news that Gerry Marsden has passed away aged 78. I saw him once when he appeared at The Windmill ‘fun’ pub in Basford. Lovely singer with some brilliant ballads and by all accounts a thoroughly nice guy. R.I.P

Oztalgian 2,275
The soundtrack of my youth grows ever quieter with the death of distinctive voiced Gerry Marsden. Thanks for the music. R.I.P. Gerry
LizzieM 8,665
Well I never thought much of old Gerry and the Pacemakers but a shame he’s passed away nevertheless.
DJ360 5,456
Gerry wasn't quite an 'All Time Great'.. in the same sense as the Beatles.. Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Sinatra, Chuck Berry and many others. But.. He was a member of the first band in UK History to go to No.1 with its first three singles. He co-wrote 'Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying'..which remains a classic song...and also 'Ferry Cross The Mersey'. He was also.. by general consent. a genuinely nice bloke.I think he deserves a decent obit.
