Bella 0
Hi, wondered if anyone knew what happened to this shop - James Bell Menswear on Pelham St, Nottingham. It is now a Jewellery shop. When did it close and why? Did anyone remember a lovely sweet elderly gentleman who worked there called Paul. I have not lived in Nottingham for 20 years now so it's a bit of a shock it has now gone. Cliff Ton 10,435
I can't answer the question, but to help anyone else, this is the shop (No 14) which used to be James Bell. https://goo.gl/maps/tCxFLhZFVFfEvBQ98
philmayfield 6,089
James Bell was dissolved some years ago. It was owned by the late Sir David White whom I knew slightly. He had multi directorships including Nottingham Forest, Mansfield Brewery and Hilda Hanson, to name but a few. He was also the chairman of the Nottingham Area Health Authority. Obviously he didn’t serve in the shop!
