Rabbit. Wasn't that a poor man's mobile telephone system? You had a relatively cheap hand set but you had to stand close to a base station (advertized by the rabbit sign) to use it. It never caught on as the price of "proper" mobile telephony fell.

Never heard of em Frank?

It was the first network that allowed person to person radio talk over the network (free of charge) along with normal mobile telephone coverage.

Unfortunately, it transmitted on the same wavelength as car alarms so whenever some one wanted to talk on the handset, any cars in the vicintiy would start sounding the alarm. Quite funny when you watched it.

The introduction of real mobile phones, as we know them, signed the death warrant for the service, hence the sign you posted.
