Electric Cars & Scooters

Reminds me of the boris bikes in central london ,nicknamed after boris johnson the then mayor of london , the scheme was called santander bicycle,  the first 30 minutes were free , and failure to return a bike to a docking station could result in a £300 fine,     in that case,  wouldnt be cheaper to go out and by yourself a bike ?

Are the raleigh chopper bikes still available  i wonder !

What flavours can you fet for you E scooter menthol ? Strawberry ? Banana ?   I assume it's like an e cigarette!!!!!!

I’ve thought about going electric, but for me, the negatives far outweigh the positives so far (sorry!). We need something far better than lithium ion. Batteries that will charge quicker, weigh less,

Well,  they certainly aren't funny I will concede that.  The clown label is not my invention.  I think it would be because such individuals promote radical changes in our lives that even many respecta

Morning Dave.   Your reply about 'Climate Clowns'..contains at least three assumptions...   1. That there are 'respectable' scientists who deny Climate Change. 2. That Climate

I've heard a lot about them but had never seen one until my trip to Berridge on Wednesday. I saw plenty then! Cannot understand why people are permitted to abandon them everywhere. I certainly wouldn't like to use one among all that traffic!

Jill, I'm trying to visualise you on one of those scooters, all nicely fitted out with a cat basket in the front. You could take Kitty out when visiting Berridge.    B.

Re: Scooters at Canning Circus..........

Last weekend I saw an arrogant/stupid idiot riding one of those scooters up Derby Road - coming from Lenton towards Canning Circus - on the wrong side of the road, oblivious or ignorant to what he was doing. He's still alive because the traffic was swerving and slowing down to avoid him; he just assumed that everything would get out of his way.

That seems to be the attitude of everyone who gets on the things.

I could never learn to ride a bike as a child, Beekay. Just fell off!  I need four wheels, not two.

I remember the chief flying instructor at Tollerton telling an aspiring lady pilot that flying an aeroplane was ‘as easy as riding a bike’. ‘But I can’t ride a bike’, she said.

The privately-owned scooters (usually all black) are the worst.  Speed not regulated like the 'Wind' ones you can hire.  Probably okay to own one but totally illegal to ride on public roads, pavements, etc.  I clocked one doing at least 30mph down Porchester (easily keeping up with cars).  No crash hemet and tiny wheels that are bound to find a pot hole sooner or later.

Yes, I recall now that it is not illegal to own one but there is virtually nowhere, other than private property, where its use is not illegal. Thanks for clarifying that, Engineer.

I saw several people using them on Wednesday with no protective gear whatever. Must be crackers!

Saw one the other day with an idiot on it filming his ride on his phone. Can't resist thinking what I could do with a length of timber. High time the police got their act together and confiscated these things on sight.

Ain’t scooters great!

I jump on the yellow Link scooters from corner of Wollaton/Cambridge Road to town & dump it opposite Turtle Bay on Burton Street, costs me £1.90 which is cheaper than a bus, going up Ilkeston Road hill they do maintain the same speed as on flat ground around 24 kmh, you can not just dump them anywhere, because the app will not let you end the ride unless you have parked them in the designated parking area & you will continue paying, you also have to submit a photo of the scooter where you left it, I have got quite good on them for oldie, I can pop quite an impressive wheelie & bunny hop on & off kerbs.

Just to prove that anyone riding an e-scooter is an idiot with no brain or sense.............

.....the other day I saw two such idiots trying to ride scooters INSIDE Boots in Victoria Centre. They were asked to leave by staff.
