Stuart.C 428
HSR,, Census 2021 was done Online, but available in paper form by request. There must have been a letter sent first with a link and code to get online , then presumably contact details for a form if preferred.

Cliff Ton 9,955
Also.....the 1921 Census on Find My Past is now available free at Nottingham City Libraries. https://www.nottinghamcitylibraries.co.uk/our-services/local-studies-family-history/ That wasn't the case when 1921 was first released, but it's now been added. Jill Sparrow 9,574
That's useful to know, CT. Thanks. I assume it's available in Derbyshire, too. Now, the only problem is wading through the minefield of transcription errors!
philmayfield 5,361
I’ve given up on trying to trace my lineage. Too many bastards! Quite popular back then apparently.

Jill Sparrow 9,574
Checked this morning but the Derbyshire Library edition does not include the 1921 census, although FMP are trying to flog half price per entry offers. I do have a Nottinghamshire Libraries card and next time I cross the border, I'll give it a go there.
Cliff Ton 9,955
It's Nottingham who do it....not Nottinghamshire. Any of this lot........ https://www.nottinghamcitylibraries.co.uk/find-a-library/
Jill Sparrow 9,574
Noted, CT. Next time I'm in Bulwell!
Cliff Ton 9,955
I've now checked out the 1921 Census in City Libraries and it works. Although just in the small number of entries I looked at, I found several transcription errors.
Jill Sparrow 9,574
From what I've seen, the 1921 is a shambles and they have the nerve to charge people to look at it! I presume it was transcribed (and I use that term very loosely) overseas because no one in the UK would make such obvious mistakes.
The Pianoman 1,482
Can you save your findings to flash memory card or similar?
Cliff Ton 9,955
I think so, but it might get a bit complicated having to use the library system. I save information by writing on paper using a pen....or.....I use my phone camera to take a photo of the information on the computer screen; and then you just transcribe it yourself when you get back home. Jill Sparrow 9,574
Old fashioned pen and paper is always safest!
Rob.L 1,027
Just looked at how much FMP want for access at home - £199.99 for 12 months, although it says you can cancel any time. I guess that means you can cancel after the first month and only pay £16.67, once you get the balance back off them?
