philmayfield 5,509
Relations or relatives? There's a subtle difference!
Cliff Ton 10,008
Wiki (which may or may not be accurate) also mentions he went to Mapperley Plains Primary School (in the paragraph 'Early Life'). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Bowles

Jill Sparrow 9,673
He was also at Berridge for a time! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-60777622
philmayfield 5,509
Everybody except me and Margie went to Berridge! I knew Kersall Drive well when I was at Mellish. I wouldn’t have called it a rough area by any means.
MargieH 7,423
I’d never heard of Berridge school till I came on here! I did go to school with a couple of girls whose surname was Berridge though… does that count? lol
Jill Sparrow 9,673
You've certainly heard of it now, haven't you Margie? . You mustn't think of yourself as deprived...or, in Phil's case, depraved.
woody 516
Excellent actor who could do comedy or serious work equally well without getting involved in scandal as many of his trade have done.

I know your post is meant as a joke, but Arno Vale was a great school and still holds good memories for me (except for one teacher). I suppose it was very different from an inner city school because even though it was an old building it was, and still is, set in a very large green area. So I don’t feel deprived by not attending Berridge but I do find it interesting seeing all the photos and reading people’s memories of the school. I think there are only 3 or 4 people on here that went to Arno Vale…
MRS B 327
I’ve never heard of Berridge either but also, I have now! Have heard of Mellish though, my two brothers were there.
Jill Sparrow 9,673
I believe Peter Bowles lived in St Paul's Avenue, off Radford Road. That would put him in the catchment area of Berridge. Unlike the recently mentioned Pleasant Row which runs parallel to St Paul's Avenue on the other side of the former St Paul's church, many of the houses in St Paul's Avenue have survived but have been updated since his time living there. Cliff Ton 10,008
Apart from the number of cars on the road, he'd probably still recognise it today. https://goo.gl/maps/R3tR6erEbUsAd2zn8
annswabey 599
My paternal Great Grandparents lived in St Paul's Avenue for many years, up to their deaths in the 20's. Pleased to see the house is still standing

She went to Roland Green School across the Toll Bridge in Wilford where my first job on leaving school was based.
MargieH 7,423
@MessThe Berridge girls I went to school with were Joan and Alison and they lived in Mapperley.
