taxi ray 170
Went past the Flying Bedstead at Hucknall today, it was all boarded up. It always seemed a popular pub, not exactly busy but still doing ok.

Rob.L 1,084
Went passed the Greyhound in Arnold today, all tinned up. But now open again. Rumour has it that the previous landlord did a runner with the takings, which is why it was shut. In other news, Weatherspoons have just opened their 888th drinking establishment. Ashley 288
Black Lion at Radcliffe On Trent , massive place, is shut rumour is demolition and supermarket on site? As for White Hart think they will do ok till about next May, then fail in the play offs
Trevor S 2,003
Ashley, tell me that is not true, please? Put the Black Lion Hotel on Google and there are umpteen threads, all praising the pub. First one though, advertising for a new tenant. The Star Group is offering a new food package etc for the new publican! Surely they would not demolish it and put up a supermarket. poohbear 1,360
Surely they would not demolish it and put up a supermarket. Large car park In a residential area No planning needed as existing retail use 'Lovely Jubbly'

poohbear 1,360
If you stood there and paid that for four drinks then you and the landlord deserve each other...I'd have told them to sod off and walked out.

Cliff Ton 10,435
The former Marquis of Lorne in Radford http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-41483245.html
Rob.L 1,084
Sad. I spent many a happy evening locked-in at the Marquis of Lorne in the 70s, playing darts and supping until well into the night. I forget the landlord's name now, but I first knew him from when he ran Parliament House on the corner of Upper Parliament street and Market Street, until it got shut-down. NewBasfordlad 3,599
Tis very sad, when I first married in 71 I lived in a first floor flat on the opposite corner. If I remember right it was less than 20 steps from my door to the door of the pub.
Bubblewrap 3,815
Corner of Middleton Street & Salisbury Street I used to walk past the Marquis of Lorne with my Mother on the way to Grandparents at number 60 Middleton Street in the late 50's/early 60's
Cliff Ton 10,435
That seems to have registered with more people than I expected. In which case, here's another version. (If you search "Lorne" in the Picture the Past, they have half a dozen photos)
