We all remember you as Lily Savage but you will be mostly remembered for your time looking after some of the dogs in Battersea dogs home "FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS" RIP Paul O' Grady OBE
Oztalgian 3,269
There is a lot of media in the UK about his death. I have never heard of him or his alter ego Lily Savage as he must have came to fame after we left the UK. Regardless of that, he died far too young at 67.
Beekay 5,134
I can recommend his book, 'On my mother's knee and other low joints'. About his early childhood and how he grew up. Kept me interested.
Cliff Ton 10,454
I first became aware of him with the Lily Savage character, which was clever and funny; a sort of update of the Les Dawson women. He seems to have been a genuinely nice bloke - and obviously did a lot for animal welfare charities.
Jill Sparrow 10,303
Anyone who gives their time to animal welfare is fine by me...no matter what they have in their wardrobe.
LizzieM 9,507
A lovely man and a huge loss to the entertainment industry and animals too. My sister-in-law knew him well through working together on stage productions, most recently ‘Annie the Musical’ when Paul O’Grady was taking over the part of Miss Hannigan from Craig Revill-Horwood and my sister-in-law had the dog in the show, this was at the start of the UK tour in January. He was still in the show up to last Saturday in Edinburgh. So sad.
