Music and sports stars will help launch the city's first licensed urban music radio station in Radford next week.

Nottingham-born footballer Jermaine Pennant, who plays for Liverpool, and Forest star Julian Bennett will attend the opening ceremony for Kemet Radio.

Soul stars Kele Le Roc and top-ten artist and Urban Music Award-winner Omar will also grace the red carpet before performing at a launch concert at the Royal Concert Hall.

The station, on 97.5FM, has a community radio licence until 2012 and will broadcast a 24-hour blend of urban and black music, with local, national and international news and current affairs shows. boombox2

As long as it contains a fair share of Rock and Roll, R&B, maybe a bit of Trad Jazz, I'm for it!

Stepping out with Fraklin Hughes i have a compact cassette tape somewhere of one of his Christmas shows on Trent .

Ive been embarassed a few times when people have shown up clutching tapes of my old shows on Trent, and usually they mention the "Craig Strongs Night Vibrations" section of the show, and are surprised to discover it was none other than Steve Merike that did the voicer for it.
