yes most supermarkets still stock Batchelors dwarf Peas,and the fav.in NOTTINGHAM was always their Marrowfat Bigga Peas. We sold them loose from sacks by the pound with a free Seeper,...........the wife who is a southerner reckons we are Dirty buggers in Notts for our love of Mushy PEAS,.......LOL.

Going back to the margarine for a minute: When I was a kid we used to have "Butter" and "Best butter". Butter was Stork margarine and Best butter was real butter - only for special occasions though.

When in the RAF the guard duty was an overnight affair based in the guard room. For early breakfast we had to cook in the guard room itself and we were always supplied with eggs, bacon and sausages by the catering flight and the frying medium was always Echo margarine - yeuch!
