Merthyr Imp 729
The squarial - produced by Sky TV's competitor British Satellite Broadcasting, I suppose in use around 20 years ago, when they offered a rival satellite TV system and using these things which were a lot less intrusive than Sky's original big round white dishes. This surviving example can still be seen on a house in Merthyr Tydfil, and is clearly no longer connected up. I imagine they went out of use long ago .
FLY2 10,108
'Free Air' advertised at filling stations. I paid 50p at Tesco's last week for two quick puffs, sorry, I mean squirts.

radfordred 6,284
What you do take the silver foil out a fag packet wrap it around your thumb then tightly twist to make a stem, while your doing this, your chewing the paper backing you pealed of the foil, add this to the foil stem making a soggy moist base, it should now look like a small wine glass? You now lob it skywards hard as you can, it should stick to the pub ceiling, every time you visit it's still there?

katyjay 5,085
I thought that's what they did in France in the good old days, when 'off with your head' was the norm for misdemeanors.

MargieH 7,594
Thanks for letting me know that bit of information, CliffTon. On reflection, it makes sense! None of my Facebook friends are 'chavs' or people with chips on their shoulders, Ian, so what I see isn't even vaguely like the Jeremy Kyle Show.......
Guest
Yes,Margie I can obviously see that..and on the plus side it keeps people in touch over the distance of miles...but why do Mothers put there child up as there wallpaper... Sharon or Kylie....then a girl in a paddling pool??!! I bet if I went up to these women and said can I take a photo of your child in swimwear and put it all over the net?...I'd expect a bunch of fives and the 'Yewtree' lads bangin' at me door! MargieH 7,594
I agree with what you say, Ian. I was just saying the same to some young mums a couple of days ago. I have read that there are cases of paedophiles who 'lift' such innocent photos and use them as bait to lure other paedophiles on to child porn sites. ( I suppose they are more internet clever than me as I couldn't even share a photo from FB of some sandals with cut out 'petals' on the top that we little girls used to wear)
Jill Sparrow 10,267
#3703 Margie, you have no idea...and you don't want to have any idea or I guarantee you wouldn't sleep at night...of what these sick people do with photos and young people. As someone who has contact with the subject because of my job, I am certainly biased against Facebook etc. I never cease to thank my lucky stars that I'm not a young person growing up in this day and age and that my parents cared about me. There are many who don't!

Guest
Maybe it's me, but the flowing of banter back and forth on here seems to have all but disappeared. Is it the new format? Just seems disjointed- feels like if i or someone posted that they've just " lost a leg" ..someone pops on after saying that "jelly and ice cream" followed their dinner!! Most odd.
