Compo 10,328
\snip\ What's an adjustable square ? The receipt was from Sisson and Parker, stationers (especially school books and equipment), so it will be the adjustable drawing square, I imagine.

littlebro 234
Here's something you wont see anymore. a production machine built from Dexion - but what did it make? Clue - It was in Nottinghamshire!
Compo 10,328
I can see what appears to be a hydraulic system working the machine. There seems to be two tool heads attached to a hydraulically operated base and a (possibly) rotating cylinder containing a quantity of nuts. It was clearly built by the factory mechanics Heath and Robinson. Was it a nut threader?
littlebro 234
No, no screw threads involved
Fynger 841
Anything to do with Meccano ???....seems to be a lot of it about.....LOL

Compo 10,328
It could be a plastic extruder of sorts.
loppylugs 8,429
some kind of wheel maker for Raleigh?
littlebro 234
Nope, not Raleigh or plastics. The factory may have produced cycle related items though. It made items associated with clothing and cars
Compo 10,328
Button/stud press? Are those things in the cylinder buttons awaiting holes being cut or something of that order?
littlebro 234
I will give you that Compo, the machine was at Carr Fastener, Stapleford and was "an automatic machine designed and built by Carr Fastener for the assembly of DOT durable fasteners". I think they are now made in the USA.
Compo 10,328
!jumping! WAHEY! Actually I wouldn't have got near it without the clue. I thought it was some kind of hydraulic press but could'nt work out what the objects in the cylinder were.
Ashley 288
I pity the blokes who actually made dexion, all that drilling of holes, what I call a boring job! lol
Limey 242
Bro - we call those "Lift the dots" - 'cause on the part with the hole it says "Lift the dot"! Very common on all convertible British cars and still available, although I suspect they are now made in China! I would never have guessed that they were a product of Carr Fastener in Stabbo - although I know they made a lot of auto related (especially seating) parts.
