That building is the current Nat West bank on the junction of Nottingham Road and Valley road, so the photo is looking down Nottingham Road to the junction.

Exactly right Frank...

Is that building still in use?, looks very isolated in the picture.

"..Nottingham Road junction with Valley Road, at Basford. The trolleybus seen in the background is a pre-war AEC belonging to the Notts & Derby Traction Co. which shared wires with the Corporation as far as the City boundary, before heading out to Heanor and Ripley. These trolleybuses had the frontal appearance of a motorbus, even with a dummy radiator"

Here is another trackless picture location question:

Big clue is the overhead wiring...

Cryptically correct, Stanley ;) well done...

For the uninitiated, he means Piccadilly Garage (hence all the wiring) on Highbury Road, Bulwell - also where the crew stamped their time cards during the journey.

Many thanks for those, Frank....

"Irrefutable evidence"....as they say in the trade!

I seem to recall a chemists located where the D.E.S Electricals is now, popular place as many GP's had their practices on Nottingham Road, up to Haydn Road - including my own 'Lavelle, Campbell & Nicholls'.

Also a cabinet makers in the same block...Machin's?

No, not Stag..

Reckon their Haydn Road premises were more of a factory.

Didn't they eventually move to Eastwood?

The place I mentioned was more of small cabinet making business employing perhaps 6 or 8 people, and was sited by the Nottingham Road/Valley Road junction.

Only reason I knew of it was because a close Amesbury Circus neighbour was their Foreman.

On reflection, it might have been 'Makins', not 'Machins'.....

Re your pictured building:

It's outside condtion looks superb - doubt any passerby would guess it to be 75+ years old!

Yes, and opposite was the Futurist Cinema house. Still in use today but not for showing films.

One picture house I never visited when it was showing films.
