Shades of John Freeman and "Face to Face" here.

I just find the architecture of Thoresby Hall unsettling since it reminds me of a nightmare I have from time to time involving spooky buildings and locations. It makes meel feel a little Rufford.

Strange I know.

Re the PO in Awsworth. Though I play for the Crown Inn I don't live in the area.

On the contrary, I know exactly what you mean! !secret!

Some 35 years I was obliged to make regular business visits to Quenby Hall, in NE Leics....the then home of the Nutting family - Anthony Nutting MP/Suez Crisis etc...

The building had a similar impact on me...

http://www.quenbyhall.co.uk/introduction/

Became so disturbed by regular nightmares, with the Hall as the backdrop, that I referred it to a cricketing pal - who was a consultant psychopathologist at the old Nottingham General Hospital.

His conclusion was that it was primarily due to the unusual geometry, and appearance, of the Hall's Jacobean facade - creating a 'fear' of what lay behind the walls. I arranged for a more extended visit [without disclosing my reason!] and became more reassured thereafter....

Hope this picture of the facade doesn't rekindle my phobia - or plant it in others.

Cheers

It's the building next to the old Northern Baths on Radford Road.

Recently vacated by P.Waller Group (Heating Engineers)

I don't know the history of the building though so I look forward to being enlightened.

Sorta!

It was occupied by P. Waller Group, but it is on Vernon Road in Basford, and it was the Brough motorcycle factory.

George Brough did not build the "Superior" there, it was his fathers factory. The superior was built on Haydn road I believe.
