katyjay 5,091
correct x3. I wasn't sure about Whaley Thorns being in Notts, and my index at the back of the atlas lost the last few pages! So I couldn't see to check, but I think all the rest are Notts. rob237 89
Reckon it is one of these places which is effectively in 2 counties.. A river, used as a border marker, meandering through a village etc.... Harby & Bottesford (Notts/Leics) being other examples. Suppose 8) could also be Upton

rob237 89
Clever clogs! I thought that one would stump you. I lived there for the first 7 yrs of marriage. Amazed..... I only gave the answer 'half in jest' Did you live in Langar village or on the 'Canadian' estate [st. Lawrence Boulevard etc] at Radcliffe? Those prefabricated properties remain popular today! Did your husband have a RCAF connection? Cheers Robt P.
katyjay 5,091
We lived in Langar village. There were only a few houses and farms there when we went, we were the first house to be occupied in a small development. Since we left, the farm we lived next door to, has been pulled down and a development built on the land. The last we heard they had no natural gas there, don't know if it came in or not. We also had a cess pitt that needed emptying, so no main sewer I think. We moved to Radcliffe after here, but again not on the Canadian estate. No air force connection, hubby worked at the water sports centre before we left Nottm.
