Blackie, your mention of the Clinic in Arnold Park reminded me of going there for a polio injection (not an impregnated sugar lump - that was introduced later) when I was about 16.

#25 Before I worked there, I hope. We got through plenty of Sodium Hypochlorite scrubbing the pool decks and changing cubicles and scouring powder in the slipper baths. It weren't long before a new pair of jeans were white up to mi knees.

Verrucas have hijacked the 'British School' thread, LOL.

Unlike BilboroughShirley I loved swimming and wore some white rubbery socks to swim in til the damn things disappeared.

What a load of cissies, verucas an all.

Where we came from we went to Northern Swimming Baths & Noel Street Baths & in the summer it was Bulwell Lido.

No verucas for us, we weren't cleaner, just tougher !! hellothere

I got my one and only one from Noel St around 1959. Horrible little devil. Ugh!
