Beefsteak 305
Regarding Stu's posting ,is that Adam Adamant? (never saw it, before my time, I just remember Francis Mathews was in a show of that name and that looks like him.) The other is The Man from Uncle. Ilya Kuriyakin (A guess as to the spelling) was part of UNCLE (UNited Command of Law Enforcement, or something like that) and they were an international peace keeping organisation fronted by an Englishman, Mr Waverly. loppylugs 8,427
How about old Alf Garnett in 'til death us do part. They probably couldn't run that show in these days, "Silly old Moo!" "Scouse git"! etc. The US made a watered down version of it called "All in the Family" Alf's character was a guy called Archy Bunker. Not a patch on Alf. They have done that quite a bit here with British shows re-named but they never come close to the originals. IMHO. Dave

Frank 13
Who remembers Crackerjack? Everytime they said that word, the audience yelled 'Crackerjack' Eamonn Andrews compared it. The game was always Double or Drop, everytime the kids got a question right, they had a prize put in their hands, a cabbage if it was wrong. The consolation prize was a 'Crackerjack' pencil. Don't think the kids would be happy with that nowadays. Eamonn also did This is your Life. Other programs - Bootsie and Snudge, Steptoe and Son, Car 54 Where are You? The Good Life, Open all Hours, Palladin, Morecambe and Wise, The Good Life, and there was a dancing program, was it Come Dancing, with Victor Sylvester and his orchestra. They always had a sequence dance segment, which always fascinated me that they just missed each other when crossing over! And then Leslie Crowther took it over but little Peter Glassier stayed as the 'stooge'
RChappo 1
I think when I started watching Crackerjack it was presented by Ed Stewart and then Stu "I could crush a grape" Francis!

katyjay 5,090
Got the old grey matter going and remembered a few more progs. Animal Magic with Johnny Morris. He would talk to the animals. Alan Whicker went all over the world, Armand and Michaela Dennis did On Safari. The cooking programs included Phillip Harben and Johnnie and Fanny Craddock. Phil Silvers was Sergeant Bilko, and lastly, The Grove Family.

Beefsteak 305
The Ghost and Mrs Muir. I was probably the only one who watched it!!!. Starring Hope Lange, I can't remember who played the Ghost but he was an old sea captain stuck in limbo (I think) Incidentally Harry Nilson (Of 'I can't live, if living is without you, fame ) got his big break on this late 60's show. It wasn't as good though! What about "Juke Box Jury"? - I'll give it foive! Don't you read my posts then Eric ? post Feb 26 2008, 08:35 PM Post #15 | Rawhide, William Tell, Robin Hood, Bonanza, Juke Box Jive, Button Moon, Blakes 7, Crown Court - just a few I can recall at the mo. RChappo 1
They also remade Juke Box Jury in the late 80's. It was hosted by Jools Holland. They had a "mystery guest" on each show who would be revealed after their song and video had been critiqued. On one occasion a Glenn Medeiros song/video got cruely and mercilessly (and deservedly!) panned by the whole panel (which included Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer) and then the poor lad was wheeled out from behind the scenes to face the jury. It was a cringeworthy situation all round
Limey 242
Thank you all for coming to my defence! Yes Frank, I did read your post, and I have never seen "Juke Box Jive" - it was probably before my time! Packing, wot the 'eck is that? Oh, I'll throw a few clothes into my suitcase tomorrow evening before I go to the airport - If that's what you mean! Plane doesn't depart until 9:25pm - so I need to be at the airport about 7:30pm - which means I don't need to leave the house until about 6:45pm! A friend is on the same flight, so we are meeting for a beer before departure - so i'll probably leave home about 6:00pm. Gets in to Gatwick at 10:10am - anybody want to drive down and chauffeur me to Retford? It is not a drive I look forward to after an overnight flight - but I'll manage. Don't expect a very awake Eric at the Poacher!
