Beefsteak 305
I am not 100 per cent but I think I just got woken by an earthquake, I thought it was Charlotte going to the loo (she has not been too well today) but I went to check and she was tucked up nice and warm in bed. She told me she had just had a dream that she was bouncing on her bed and woke up to find she wasn't (She wouldn't have had time to get back in before I got there) So does any one Know how to access the British Geological Survey at Kegworth? rob237 89
BGS at Keyworth are saying epicentre was 30 miles south-west of Hull... BBC saying 'hundreds' of folk ringing them...what the hell for? Cheers Robt P.
rob237 89
According to my OS Atlas, 30 miles south-west of Hull is just about beneath the nuclear weapon storage facility at RAF Faldingworth, Market Rasen Could have been an even bigger shake Cheers Robt P. Beefsteak 305
Ta for that. Did you feel it Rob?
rob237 89
Not as such...was at my office PC when I heard a bang which turned out to be the drawers beneath my kitchen sink sliding fully open. Frankly, thought nothing of it - until I saw the 'quake news reports. My daughter came on MSN (she lives a mile away) to say she had been woken by it. Mind you, she can hear buses crossing Trent Bridge - 12 miles distant! Jodrell Bank on legs... Cheers Robt P.
rob237 89
Bloody hell...my wild guess at Market Rasen seems to be spot on - a bit un-nerving that! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7266136.stm Perhaps as well the nuclear weapons left RAF Faldingworth when the Vulcans were replaced as the strike force, by the nuclear subs'. Cheers Robt P.

Limey 242
Got an e-mail from my sister in Retford (Sutton-cum-Lound actually). It was a 5.3 centered at Market Rasen about 1:00am (your time). She said it woke them up and rattled the house pretty good - but no damage.
Beefsteak 305
90.21 miles from us as the crow flies. No discernible damage visible here although some entrepreneurial Scouser will claim for damage done by the weather years ago. I posted this before but on the last earthquake we had ,there was some film on the telly news, of a scouser outside his pub pointing to a crack in the wall, which , in less than 12 hours had a Dandelion growing out of it (I'd love to know how his insurance claim came out)
zacsmum 0
although ive been left the meadows for some time now i feel sure the building on castle boulevard is still there
mick2me 3,033
There is a large building still at the junction of Wilford Road. Is that it? I am thinking of a large building near to Abbey Bridge, housing Magnet Joinery at that time, that burnt down? I think MFI is there now.

We looked out the window to see the telegraph poles shaking like crazy. Hoped we'd get sent home but we didn't. Dave

mick2me 3,033
Thanks Frank I thought it might be that one from ZM's description? That particular building was recently renovated, I believe there is a presevation order on it. Its unique as it has no walls, One of few in the UK, if not the only one. I worked on it during the refurbishment Mick - 1985. The columns are listed as is the wood paneling in the first floor boardroom. (been today actually to see it) I currently work on it as it is the headquarters of Gala Coral Group - one of my customers. 24hour cover, 7 days a week, as it houses all the mainframe computers for the entire Bingo and casino operations. Apparently, Mrs Franks mum used to work there as a girl when it was a factory.
