Talking about that new Kid Rock track and the riffs he's 'borrowed' I got to thinking about great riffs in tunes and what my favourites were.

What are yours ? if possible post a link to youtube or somewhere playing it

My faves

Martha and the muffins....Echo Beach..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyzsBqk8u1w

Blue Oyster Cult.....Don't fear the reaper..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rW-YvYmUE

The opening to this (Though what the lyrics are ,god only knows)

Loads more to follow Whats yours??

Always thought the ultimate band for riffs were Led Zeppelin, they have so many classic ones. Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog and so on.

I reckon Thin Lizzy would be up there for me too, Jailbreak, Black Rose etc.

One of the great classic riffs is one of the most simple, Dave Davies on The Kinks' You really Got me.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sweet Home Alabama for a slightly gentler paced riff.

Finally Derek and The Dominoes of Eric Clapton and Duane Allman fame with Layla.

And another thing - half the thing about good music is finding it and I was so impressed with beefy's Kid rock thing that if anyone would like to point me at some other great stuff that would be brill.

Oh - and here's my starter for ten:

Anything by Sad Lovers and giants

Anything by the Silencers.

Now, how easy is that!

Eric Clapton - Sunshine Of Your Love - couldn't find a good Cream version

David Bowie - Jean Genie - with the great Mick Ronson

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Refugee
