ab&mb 0
Does anybody have any information on the Nottingham home guard especially the Lambley branch?
Ashley 288
Yes, they,ve been disbanded. Seriously though I've read very little re the home guard locally, either here or in print and the only thing I hear was of road blocks manned by such, previously mentioned on Church Street Old Basford and Hucknall Road near the junction of Arnold Road, both these were only in daylight hours though as they didn't want cars running into such in the blackout
Ashley 288
Waiting for the panzers! sorry about photo, couldn't get book in scanner but it shows just how poorly equipped we'd have been if they'd have got here

bamber 128
Lambley Home Guard? If they ever had to go action the War would have been long lost by then.
MrKingStreet 2
I have just come across this very old post. I have a copy of the "NOMINAL ROLL OF OFFICERS AND OTHER RANKS OF 9 HOME GUARD REGIMENT" It covers Nottingham for certain as my Dad's name is in it. Unfortunately, it does not contain place names just headings such as "NO 2 RELIEF". Nine Reliefs are listed, together with a "TRAINING AND RESERVE RELIEF". If this is of interest I can supply an image of each of the seven pages. MrKing

letsavagoo 956
Could I have a copy of the page with ‘Clarke’ on it please. My maternal grandfather, a First World War veteran was in the home guard.
