malbw 0
Hi All Just thought I'd post this little beauty I came across recently. This is a small brass "banjo" Oil can. It is marked James Carver - Alfred Street Mills - Nottingham. From what I have been able to find out James Carver owned a lace making machinery company around 1860's and was a sherriff of Nottingham also. The Alfred Street Mills I believe were situated in Ashforth Street. If anyone has any further info would be nice mal

Sammy Jane 0
Hello - I believe Alfred St was the location where he made bikes. He made lace machines and also bikes. I know this original post was a long time ago - but do you still have this item? https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/James_Carver https://www.sterba-bike.cz/fotka/16231/category/information-mix-foto?lang=EN
Cliff Ton 10,464
Welcome Sammy Jane. And a couple of interesting links. The person who made the original post - malbw - never made any other posts and hasn't been back here since May 2009. Somehow I don't think you'll get a reply but I'd love to be proved wrong.
