Cliff Ton 10,464
I recently found this old cutting from the Evening Post (I'd saved it for what was on another page). Looking at the places I guess it's from around the early 90s, but others may know better.
DJBrenton 738
Late 90's I think. I seem to remember Faces was created at the time when Black Orchid was closed to become Isis. Sue Brailsford ran promotions for them and sent me a Famous Faces card for years even though I only went a few times.

tony1 118
My Ex used to work at the INTERCON, under the Vic Centre. 1972? The entrance, with steps leading down, was roughly where Vision Express used to be. Opposite Shakespeare Street. (It was called something else to start with, which escapes me for the moment)
TBI 2,351
It was Intercon when it first opened and then changed to Tiffanys.

TheBeanCounter 1
We used to go to the Union rowing club to see DJ Petal. I also remember going to the opening of the Sandpiper club on Broadway. There was only about 6 of us plus the staff!

TheBeanCounter 1
I went to the opening of the Sandpiper with a few friends. I remember about an hour after opening up there were very few people so the manager locked the door.

underthewideandstarrysky 4
Just looking back over the distant years when I was a youth in my prime and used to spend loadsa time boppin' at The Brit, Union and Boat clubs. They were the Mod days. Graduated to Hippydom a few years later, but the Tamla, Atlantic, Stax and Northern Soul sounds still resonate with great affection and wonderful memories of my coming of age in Nottingham.
ValuerJim 277
Saw the Beatles at the Odeon, maybe 63 - had to ballot for tickets - and the Stones at the Albert Hall? around the same time. Frequented the Brit mostly in the 60s, and remember a band called the Corsairs. Before that it was the Locarno, under 16s night of a Tuesday. Just soft drinks and groping. Cliff Ton 10,464
A question was asked by somebody on the Nottingham Facebook page; was there a club - or pub - or bar - called the Jethro Tull in the Lace Market. No hint of when it might've been, but probably 70s or 80s. It vaguely rings a bell with me.
hippo girl 1,995
I wonder if they are confusing Jethro Tull with Uriah Heeps, byard lane ?
Dave 48 847
I think you are right Hippo Girl, Uriah Heeps next door to the Cross Keys .
Cliff Ton 10,464
Probably a good explanation; the person who asked the question got their rock bands mixed up !

Brit45 10
Was the Belvedere in the Lace Market? There was a club there with a jazz band that stopped serving drinks at about 10.30pm. We would round off an evening there after that time with a bowl of mushy peas before getting taxis home. Yes it was, directly behind the Windmill which was opposite the Cross Keys. I think I spent more time in the 'mill than I did at home.
