That takes me back... Passed my driving test in August 1971 and one of my mates said "let's go to Skeggy, that will be good practice now you can drive". Me dad had just bought me an old Ford Popular as a present for passing the test. Drove over to Skeg, pint in the Ship (I was only 17 and me mate had to go in and get it, I looked very young for my age) and then drove straight back to Nottingham.
