Ok Hippo Girl, I cannot think of any more clues so I will give it you, Charlton Arms, Chilwell.

The junction is School Lane & High Road Chilwell. I think every building has now been replaced and the road is of course much wider.

Does anyone fancy nipping down there and taking a digi photo from the same spot, hang on, would it be on Google Street.

The newspaper image (sorry, I do not know which newspaper) shows the demolition of the former Sherwin Arms pub in favour of the brand new one.

This was way before the 'A52' traffic island which was put in around 1962. I guess the demolition was between the wars - anyone with a date?

Note, no rubbish skips, no Health & Safety measures. Just a few guys and a horse & cart.

Opposite the Sherwin Arms on Derby Road there was a Co-op, I will have a look for that image.
