(Don`t know if this is the right place to post this - apologies if I`m wrong.)

Being new to this forum malarkey I went into another (nameless) Nottingham site as a guest.

I was really sad to see that many of the threads consisted of really nasty posts between two or three members who were obviously at serious odds with each other.

I don`t mean banter, I mean really nasty stuff, name calling like bar steward and words with asterisks in them

I decided that I didn`t want to go there again.

It`s really nice and welcoming in `ere innit?

You’ve had a smoother ride than I did when I first came onto this site Eileen.

What’s the name of that site you didn’t like for its abusive postings?

That EP blog made for interesting reading, its gave me an idea.

Ive been reading here for a while, I think they call it lurking LOL.

I thought I would join today, as it seems very friendly here.

I used to go into the nottingham newsgroups, they were terrible.

Yes I agree What a friendly site. Look forward to chatting with you all.

Hello Margaret, it’s a refreshing change to have a woman on the site, I find women more tolerant than men and not so quick to make judgements on others especially if they have never met.

So Margaret what exactly attracted you to this site? For me it was the friendly atmosphere created by the banter between members similar to what I’m having with two of them at the moment and the companionship one feels while sitting all alone behind a computer screen with ones ankle giving one jip, those moments are memorable to be treasured to the end of ones days I reckon.

I have only been here a couple of days and am still finding my way around, so many topics and posts to get through and everyone ringing a bell with me. I think this site is just brilliant, I dont know who owns it or who started it but well done you. And like Margeret, I have also had a very warm welcome, its a bit like "coming home".

Thanks for having me.

If not this year, it will be next. We are planning on trying to be up there for RAF Leuchars air show , and a visit to Inverness/Lossiemouth/Kinloss and then up to John O'Groats .

It all depends on whether we move to Cornwall this year !!

Thanks for the invite (I'll see if I can source a pint of Shippo's direct from Greenalls in Warrington (Not a million miles from here ))

Hello Brian, Sorry about your ankle? :(

I found this site whist searching googal for places that I have lived in my lifetime.

It brought me here, and I did some searches, I was amazed by the stuff I found on this site.

I must say I have not witnessed anymosity in my readings. and the site has kept me busy.

All seem to be lovely people to me, and quick to jump in with help and information

from what I have seen so far, a refreshing change. I have yet to meet someone I know,

but have seen people on here who have found people who lived in the same area as them :).

When I find stuff worth posting about, I will add some replies.

Mags.

Daily Blog You say!!!

You think I get time for a daily blog?

Bloody Dial up connection, is all I can afford, on my megre state pension.

Not like these social security wallahs, on their million kilowatt broadbands!

What would I put in me daily Blog anyway.

Sat in flat.

Watched Telly.

Went to bed

Kip on settee.

Ad me dinner, Egg beans and chips!.

Collected me pension, another Queue!

Went to the local supermarket for some milk. Only bloody skimmed milk left!

Got abused again by the local chavs.

Complained to the the local PCSO, but got nowhere.

Took me library books back to the library. Paid the fine!

Looked out of the window. Kids kicking fotball at the walls and shop windows! AGAIN

Who would want to read a blog about life on Bestwood estate?

Bloooody Booooring!

And thats what I say!

Morning Flatcap,

If you`re on state pension you shouldn`t have to pay fines on your library books. You don`t have to in Derby. You just flash your bus pass thingy.

I took a late book back last week and got my purse out but the librarian said, 'No charge' When I asked why she writhed with embarrassment trying not to say, 'Because you`re a pensioner.' In the end she said, 'The computer said not.'
