Another old box emptied during the day revealed more about old Arnold and, together with a couple of photos in a library book, gives me another poser for you to ask your grandparents (or people that knew them) about.

In a little under four years it will be the centenary of the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Arnold/Daybrook and it seems a set of medals/medallions were presented to the members of the council to commemorate the visit. Two bronze, the larger for the men and a much smaller one for their wives, there was an even larger one of a light alloy that might have been more widely distributed, this one had the date of the visit on the obverse and a different coloured ribbon. Can anyone throw more light on this.
