I walked past there today, it looks to have been done up.

Nice new entrance door with just a fancy chinese lantern hanging above it.

I last remember it as Camalot Club around 1978.

Anyone know what it is now?

Your memory is way out there Mick , we went in there once or twice in the mid/late 80s , "To hear the jazz go down"

When I say 1978, that was my first recollection of going there.

Yes we did go there in the 1980's.

About that time I think they had a Mexican Restaraunt there as well.

Unless that was somewhere else?

Thanks for the Chinese site Red,

Firefox wont let me install an ap to view it :(

so what is where the old Camelot Club was now, on Bridlesmith Gate? If Coco tang is the old Bench and Bar on Middle pavement, is Camelot Club Coco Tang as well?

Now a meet up in Coco Tang would be great in the indeed!

This salubrious spot gets the nod from yours truly- the rum selection is comprehensive, the basic layout is the same as Camelot and the Hippo..all that's missing is Howie the DJ and Tony sansom!

My mate Alan Bentley used to be manager at Wilkinsons Boutique in Hockley (can't remember the street). After a stint in the Windmill we and Neil Wharton would go down to said shop and load up Neil's minivan with shoes and then go to to the Hippo on a selling spree.
