Caz 25
Laurel Aitken the "Godfather of Ska" passed away sunday, he was 78, not a bad age. Just goes to show what good music does for the body & soul. He was a favourite of British skinheads who embraced Ska music , as did Madness, The Specials & Bad Manners. Even UB 40 recorded a song he had written "Guilty" which was released last year on their album "Labour Of Love Live At The Ska Club" RIP

mick2me 3,033
Yes I was a Fan, but not a skinhead. He did some quite fruity stuff as I remember, probably got a couple of his albums knocking around, Scandal in a Brixton Market is one of them. ECO 8 Laurel Aitken & Girlie - Scandal In A Brixton Market Tracks: Scandal In A Brixton Market / Madame Stragge / Stupid Married Man / Tammering / Have Mercy / Night Cricket / Run Powel Run / Teddy Bear / Mr. Soul / Woke Up This Morning / Babalon / Stop The War In Vietnam Though a major player at the time, probably not considered the 'Godfather' That title might be better deserved by Lee 'Scratch' Perry of the Upsetters, for the introduction of Ska.
