mick2me 3,033
I've been hanging my nose over a new camera to replace my Digital Rebel for some months now. Ive finally taken the plunge and ordered a 60d. I was going to get the 550d, but I decided to spend more and get the 60d with two lenses. Now need to get out and about to test it. Roll on the next Aviation day, thats what I say.
Beefsteak 305
How much for the 55-250mm Mick?? (I've been toying with the idea of one of these for a while . As I'm sure you know, this is one of the lowest 'F' stops available, (Without paying silly money) , and I've toyed with the idea of using one of these with an extender. X2 on my 100-400 is too dark to give me the full benifit (Even in the brightest of sun !!) so I thought one of these with it might be a lot better. Chinese to lot of you ...... Sorry. Beefsteak 305
Nowt to worry about there Mick, Gatwick will be the local 'depot' for the southern area.( Gatwick to Brighton = 22 miles and motorway all the way) for whatever couriers are doing the delivery (Probably not the Post Office) When I worked for Business Post we covered all the Notts(NG) post codes for collections and deliveries an area that is massive, over to Newark, Grantham, Sleaford (32 miles) in the East . East Markham, Tuxford , Church Warsop, and Askham (30 + miles and no motorway/duel carriageway there from my main delivery area of Mansfield so just one collection from there put at least 2 hours on to my days workload) in the north. We also had Eastwood through to Pinxton in the West. (I've just noticed that Eastwood is west of Nott'm and West Bridgeford is South !!) That was a good (Or should that read bad) memory jog! As for the card through the door , I had that happening regularly when I first became house husband. Till I complained to the local sorting office, saying something along the lines of " Tell him to try knocking on the door next time please" I never had a problem after that . I even caught hold of my 'new' postman the other day telling him I was going away for a few days and there would be no point in bringing any parcels till Monday this week , this he did and was duly thankful, as I had three parcels !! mick2me 3,033
Apologies but I have not been able to update this thread, I have been rather busy of late. We were over in Florida Last week 96 degrees at 6 oclock at night it was! Did I tell you I bought a second Canon? No Ithought not, I bought an EOS30D because I wanted the lens that was on It. A very nice Canon EF-S AF 17-85mm IS lens, BARGAIN, and I will sell on the 30D, a nice little earner, even better after I sell on the brand new Canon 18-55 standard lens I got with the 60D. The New lens and Canon 60D makes a nice versatile peice of kit dont you think? The Review is here http://www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/canon-ef-s-17-85mm-f-4-5.6-is-usm-lens-review.aspx Anyroad up, Talking of Florida, very dissapointed in the Shamu show at Seaworld. There is no longer interaction in the water between the trainers and the Killer Whales. This is since one of the whales killed a trainer. Instead there is a fancy trapeze act with the whales swimming round below. Whilst the trainers prance around the outside! Anyway thats all till tomorrow, got to finish T-Cutting the fridge freezer.... Tcchhhttttt...... Brrrrrrrrrrzzzzz Bzzzzzzttttttt... K K k k k z.... Erm Sorry, I am not sure what came over me there? Beefsteak 305
Are you sure that ISO setting is correct ?? 6400 sounds a bit grainey to me !!
mick2me 3,033
Yes and with a shutter speed of 8000th second and the the aparture wide open, it was set up for my visit to the London Cuts Demo. I wanted to try and catch a fraction of the existence of one of those Anarchist rioters that bight be considered as being useful to society.
mick2me 3,033
Did I tell you I bought a second Canon? No Ithought not, I bought an EOS30D because I wanted the lens that was on It. Not such a good deal. After a week the lens developed communication problems. I loved the 30d even though it was a lower spec than the 60d. Apparently that lens suffers from a broken connection on the focusing. This one had problems and I had to raise a Paypal dispute to get my money back. Not impressed with modern Canon lenses reliability or build quality. Not like the old FD lenses. I have now ordered a brand new Sigma 17-70 at a very good price. Jacobs wanted £345 which I thought was very good. But ordered one from http://www.microglobe.co.uk/ RRP: £400.82 Sale Price: £208.34 Inc VAT 20% You Save: £192.48 http://www.microglob...non-f2845-lens BARGAIN
Beefsteak 305
I got a 70-300mm Dg Macro F4 - 5.6 off of ebay for 50 quid , it arrived yesterday and I haven't been out to try it out yet (Raining) The question is , on the box it says "For Canon AF" mine is a EOS will it still work ok ?? mick2me 3,033
Im sure that is the same lens I have for the old Canon 300d, That lens fitted OK on the 30D which is the same fitting AFAIK The 17-85 lens fits both the 30D and my latest 60D. There is an issue with SOME Canon lenses that extend further into the body causing problems with the mirror? That may be with the earlier camera bodiesor was it the earlier lenses? Best to double check.
Beefsteak 305
I've checked up and it is just a standard Auto Focus sign and is ok on all Canon Auto focus cameras , ta !
