Beefsteak 305
Carlton square 1950's Carlton Drill hall to the top right, the cemetry in the background ,(no telephone exchange in those days ,wasn't it down Station road at the time? The shops to the bottom left were gone before my time , it was just a load of derelicts later to become a car park before Tesco took over in the late 80s
Beefsteak 305
They cocked the date up on this one. According to the caption this is 1950s but it looks over the site of what was Carlton Central School which didn't get demolished until early 60s The row ow buildings in the background is on Burton Road
Beefsteak 305
A real good view this , the old post office and chemists directly in front ,the "Blacks head" (Still there)off to the left It also shows tall buildings to the right ,I have no recollection of these, IMMSC there was a dry cleaners there "Reanys"? I also know there was a blacksmiths just round the corner to the right, down Station Road at the foot of Walton Crescent I would appreciate it if you were to move these to the Carlton Forum please Mick )I just tried and can't work out how to do it
